WORK EXPERIENCE

UCO McNair Scholars Program Coordinator                                               

Oversee organization and coordination of day-to-day services; recruit eligible students from low-income, first-generation backgrounds and/or from groups underrepresented in graduate education (African-American, Hispanic/Latinx, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and Native American/Alaskan Native) who are interested in preparing to pursue a PhD; assist with the development and implementation of activities for and services to McNair Scholars; support students in all aspects of the graduate application process; maintain and produce federally compliant student portfolios; identify needs and measurements of student progress; provide individualized academic advising and support; arrange travel for students to attend scholarly conferences and graduate school visits; data collection; maintain compliance with federal legislation, regulations, and guidance, as well as institutional policies and procedures; coordinate the eight-week summer research program and coordination of the pre-research program; responsible for the production of marketing materials and the McNair Scholars Program Research Journal; supervise support staff; and monitor and recruit faculty mentors.

 

Rose State College English Adjunct Professor                                                                       

Responsible for instruction, course preparation, developing instructional materials, grading and assessment; prepare course syllabi; select and compile test, assignments, and/or discussion activities as a measurement of performance relative to the standardized learning objectives; evaluate student performance; record and maintain complete and accurate records of student grading, attendance, and achievement; adhere to all requirements for student privacy (FERPA); deliver instruction in traditional, hybrid, and online course format for Basic Communications, Fundamental English, English Composition I, English Composition II, and African American Literature; utilize current technology to enhance lesson delivery; and taught 100% concurrent enrollment instruction for Guthrie High School and Holdenville High School.

 

Rose State College English Faculty

UCO Upward Bound Classic Coordinator   

Recruited, hired, trained, supervised and evaluated tutors; initiated new project elements and modified practices based on data from participants about the program’s impact and effectiveness; assisted the Director in project operations; tracked alumni; organized and maintained participant files to ensure confidentiality and compliance with state and federal regulations; designed and implemented project curriculum to meet academic goals and objectives; acted as a liaison between the project, parents, participants and target school stakeholders; coordinated monthly activities, events, and trips; supervised summer instructors, tutors, interns, student workers, and part-time employees; compiled and submitted APR data; successful grant writing for program renewal and three Intern UCO positions; created job postings and conducted interviews; and conducted instructor orientation and scheduled faculty and staff meetings.

John Marshall Mid-High School Career Technology Ed. Teacher   

Instructed 8th - 12th grade students in technology courses including: Fundamental of Technology, Digital Editing, Multimedia Image Management, and Desktop Publishing; Coordinated, planned, organized, and instructed lecture and lab courses; recruited and planned speaker series; developed program curriculum; utilized advanced technologies in instruction; assisted in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussion; studious management of program budget and budget reporting; maintained and reported accurate and complete scholastic records; participated in department program and curriculum review and development; developed and assessed student learning outcomes; and utilized the results of student learning outcomes assessment to make improvements in teaching and learning.

 

UCO Upward Bound Math Science English Instructor

Developed curriculum and lesson plans for Creative Writing; planned daily lessons and formative and summative assessments aligned with Oklahoma standards; taught program students grades 9 through 12; developed course description and outline; maintained student records regarding attendance and grades; conducted pre- and post-learning assessments and end-of-course evaluations; and served low-income, first-generation students and/or students from underserved communities.

 

 

Rose State College Academic Advisor

Provided academic advising to students that facilitated student success, persistence, and degree completion in a timely manner; advised and enrolled undecided students by providing assistance with course selection and scheduling, major and career exploration, and vital information relevant to transition from high school, military service, and/or the workforce; utilized OASIS system; maintained a familiarity with academic programs and how they relate to various career paths; advised freshmen, sophomores, concurrent, and transfer students; collaborated with major advisors in departments and the appropriate curriculum and assessment committees; applied the understanding of college credits, including AP and other credit by examination, transfer articulation, and substitution/equivalency procedures and policies to student advising; and advocated for corrections to student records when needed.

UCO Retention Specialist/Graduation Coach

Acted as a key contributor to increasing student retention and graduation by supporting students making timely progress toward a degree through a range of in-person and online academic counseling and support strategies; conducted intrusive advising regarding attendance, classwork, financial aid, student organizations, housing, and social and physical well-being; assisted first-time freshmen with navigating the transition from high school; developed and instructed the Seminar for College Development for five-hundred Project Persist students; enrolled students in cohort and general courses; advised STEM and Traditional Student Support Service (TRIO) students; planned and coordinated educational and social events; trained faculty on D2L; facilitated meetings between faculty, staff, students, and parents; used BANNER, DegreeWorks, D2L, and My Degree Plan; and made appropriate and timely referrals for non-academic issues and concerns to applicable services.

 

OSU-OKC Concurrent Enrollment Adjunct                     

Responsible for delivery of college-level coursework for concurrently enrolled Deer Creek and Northwest Classen High School seniors and juniors in English Composition I and English Composition II hybrid courses; implemented effective learning strategies; assessed student learning based on college standards; and developed and planned appropriate instructional strategies. 

 

Arcadia Literary Magazine Editor                                                

Reviewed Comic & Cartoon section submissions and sent acceptance and rejection notices to authors and creators; worked closely with other editors through each round of edits; marketing; contest and promotional management; and online content generation.
